Kevin Barry

We are very sad to advise the sudden and unexpected death of Kevin Barry.
Kevin had been a member since 1966 and made a huge contribution to the club as a President, committee member and member. He was an All Black and a great person.
His funeral is on Friday August 22 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Takapuna at 11.00am.
More information will be included in Campbell Burnes’ November club newsletter.

1960s Wallabies/All Blacks reunion

Dick Marks, Australian captain in the ’60s, has organised a reunion with the 1960s All Blacks, to coincide with the forthcoming test against the Wallabies on Saturday.
Along with Dick Marks, Bryan Williams has made all the arrangements for both teams for the 1960s Wallabies visit, which will take place over four days.
Their programme includes the following events:
Wednesday August 20 – meet from 5.30pm in the Barbarians clubrooms at Eden Park. All Barbarian members are invited to join the group if you are available.
Thursday August 21 – reunion dinner, to be held at the Ponsonby Rugby Club.
Friday August 22 – NZ Rugby Foundation lunch at Eden Park
Saturday August 23 – All Blacks v Wallabies at Eden Park – pre-match drinks and meal and celebrations/commiserations after the match.

NZ Rugby Foundation luncheon

As you know, the NZ Rugby Foundation does a remarkable job managing and rehabilitating injured rugby players. Your support for the work the foundation does can be demonstrated by attending their forthcoming luncheon at Eden Park.

Australia v All Blacks test: Saturday August 23 at 7.35pm

If you are coming to the test on Saturday, we hope you will have time to visit the clubrooms, hopefully before and after the game.
All financial members have been issued with members cards and a visitor card and these should be shown to Eden Park security staff to gain entry to the club.
If you need additional visitor cards, please come up to the club to get the extra cards, return to your guests, show security staff the extra cards and bring your visitors up to the club.
Please remember to return your cards before you leave the club at the end of the game.
Enjoy the game and ‘Go the All Blacks.’
