NZ Barbarians vs Maori All Blacks
With All Blacks and Maori All Blacks squads about to be announced, our attention will be diverted to the international stage and it won’t be long before the Maori vs NZ Barbarians game at Eden Park on Saturday July 18 will be centre stage.
NZ Rugby is in charge of selecting the teams for this match and we won’t know the make-up of the NZ Barbarians team until early July, although we understand that All Blacks outside of the playing squad plus All Blacks returning from injury could be included so it will be a serious game of rugby featuring many of the top echelon of players. Details of how to get tickets and concessional ticket pricing for members will be circulated as soon as they are available.
RIP Dave Dalgleish
It is sad to record the passing of our Barbarian colleague Dave Dalgleish.
Dave epitomised all that is great about people who are completely committed to grassroots rugby. He gave a lifetime of service to the Teachers Rugby Club, then to Teachers-Eastern Rugby Club and finally to the Grammar-Teachers-Eastern-Carlton Rugby Club aka G-TEC. He advocated strongly for all of these clubs at all levels of rugby and on the local body political scene with many of the developments at the Orakei Domain, home of G-TEC, testimony to his dogged determination to do the best for his club. I’m sure he and his great mate Eric Boggs will have much to talk about.
Dave’s funeral was held at Eden Park on Wednesday June 17.
