The club is holding a gala fundraising dinner called ‘Rugby Ties’.
A weekly updated newsletter will be sent to you, especially around the organising of teams from the various eras from both NZ and the UK using member friendships with their counterparts.
Date: Thursday July 6
Venue: Auckland Viaduct Events Centre
Time: 6pm for pre-drinks
Cost: $250 including GST from Ticketmaster: www.ticketmaster.co.nz Search: rugby ties
Charities: NZ Rugby Foundation, Spirit of Adventure Trust and the NZ Barbarian Rugby Club
Sponsors to date: Heineken, Brancott Letter Series wines, Barfoot & Thompson

The only formalities on the evening will be the welcome, a panel discussion hosted by the MCs for the night, Melodie Robinson and James McOnie, and three or four auction items to be auctioned by the panel, who will put pressure on you guys.
The rest of the night is all about the camaraderie gained through playing the sport of rugby and the friends from all around the world for those lucky enough to have been All Blacks or provincial players.
We want this to be the gala dinner event of the Lions tour with attendance by the ‘Rugby Royalty’ of NZ and UK rugby players.
We have been in touch with the UK Barbarians and the Lions tours organisation who have over 6000 supporters on their tours alone, so we expect many of them to be attending this function.

Speakers: We are trying to match eras of players to cover a broad spectrum of Lions tours. We are seeking assistance from both the UK Barbarians and the NZ Barbarians to find the below spaces as this is about Barbarian members entertaining us on their experiences against each other. We have the below confirmed and are now seeking others so, as a Barbarian, if you feel you know some guys are back out here supporting the Lions, we can easily match them up with an All Black.

We would love a match from the 1977 tour as it is their 40-year reunion this year. Please contact me with suggestions: Simon Johnston 0274-736-327 or email events@brfc.co.nz

I will be sending out a weekly newsletter on the ‘Rugby Ties’ event as we turn this into a wonderful occasion, including helping fund the NZ Rugby Foundation and the Spirit of Adventure Trust, both national causes.
Any assistance you can give me, please don’t hesitate, as this event is organised from the committee to keep all costs to a minimum.
We are still looking for additional sponsors, so please contact me for a proposal.
In appreciation of your support to meet up for camaraderie, laughs and stories.
