Report on Barbarians Middleweight Rugby Team’s trip to Wellington – March 2012

Just come back from Wellington and it was a great win 21 – 7. The Barbarians Middleweight Rugby Team lead at half time 6 nil. The Wellington Centurions were a very good outfit and some hard tackling from both teams. Both teams were evenly matched and only a lapse of concentration from the Wellington Centurions allowed the Barbarians cash in on.

The Wellington Centurions are now planning to be in Auckland in September for the Barbarians Middleweight Tournament to be held at College Rifles. Great to see Wellington Rugby taking Middleweight rugby seriously again after an initial interest back in faded.

The NZ Barbarians points came from Gerrad MacInnes, Joel Murphy Tries – Scott Thomson 3 Pens , 1 conv.

This was a very short visit to Wellington. Flew in at 6.45 am Saturday 31st March – kick off at 12.30pm at Te Whaea Artifical Turf (that’s where the Hurricanes train) great crowd who supported this great game. Flew out Sunday April 1st morning at 8.30am, completely shagged.

A very good team spirit lead by our Convenor Bryan Craies – President Mike Mills , Coaching Staff – Gary Cunningham , Wayne Underhay, Managers – Deano Allnutt, Roger Moore- Club Captain – Mark Moore , Vice President – John Mills.

Awesome team trip with some great men.

Deano Allnutt.
